UPDATE - Non-Carta Porte Compliant Shipments Destined for Mexico Held Beginning June 26

As communicated, the new Mexican Tax Authority (SAT) Carta Porte rules will require complete Carta Porte data on EDI 404/BNSF origin shipments and EDI 417/traffic received in interchange. BNSF will implement Carta Porte requirements on June 26, 2023, in advance of the official SAT implementation on August 1, 2023, to allow for adequate testing and ensure a smooth transition to the new process. Beginning June 26, BNSF may hold shipments non-compliant with the Carta Porte requirements at origin and/or reject shipments at interchange.
