Agricultural Products Network Update for Friday, December 9, 2022

Date
Dec 9, 2022

The operation is sustaining overall strong performance across much of the network heading into the weekend. Velocity continues to improve after the Thanksgiving holiday, and the network is fluid with peak shipping season in full swing.

We experienced a derailment early Saturday morning between Glasgow, Montana, and Minot, North Dakota, approximately 113 miles west of Minot. Both main line tracks were out of service, and some trains experienced delays while BNSF teams and contractors completed track repairs. Service was restored to the first main track on Sunday evening, with the second main line back in service by Monday afternoon. Traffic flows have returned to normal throughout the area.

Train length restrictions were implemented in some areas this week as temperatures fell below zero degrees across portions of Montana, North Dakota, and Minnesota.

Winter storm warnings are currently in effect for parts of the Pacific Northwest and Northern California. Heavy rain and mountain snow are expected as the storm system makes its way south along the West Coast into the Southwest over the weekend. Southwestern Wisconsin, Southeastern Minnesota, and Northeast Iowa are under a winter weather advisory today, with the wintery weather tapering off through the weekend. BNSF teams throughout the region are monitoring conditions closely. No significant service interruptions due to weather are expected at this time.

As always, we thank you for your business and appreciate the opportunity to serve as your transportation service provider. We welcome your feedback and questions.
